Verdict

Plenty with something to prove in this but it’s an interesting contest nonetheless. Great things were forecast for Thomas Patrick after he won a Grade 3 at Aintree in 2018 but things have turned sour since. However, he is now looking well handicapped. Another Venture has been keeping better company this season and shouldn’t be far away but the novice Christmas In April failed to cope with a 6lb rise when on a hat-trick at Plumpton. Haydock winner Cobolobo was never travelling next time at Newbury but Le Boizelo has already won around here this winter and is still in good form. ALMINAR is better off at the weights than when third behind Horatio Hornblower at Ffos Las and he bolted up at Chepstow subsequently. This is a better race but he is less exposed than his rivals and may still be on a fair mark. Potters Legend is preferred to the returning St Erney of the others.
