Verdict
Master Robbie has enjoyed a wonderful season so far and his second to the enigmatic Kareeb last weekend, was as good as anything he had achieved to date. However, he may have to play second fiddle again, this time to Lafi, who will be well suited by a return to this stiff seven-furlongs. The four-year-old has few miles on the clock and is still clearly open to improvement, but while he disappointed somewhat last time there was a valid excuse as the race was run at a crawl early on. With Lifted Way in the field, there should be no hanging around and he should have the race run to suit. The latter had plenty of decent efforts, in maidens last year to his name, and finally got off the mark at Warwick in June. Both the second and third have gone in since, so that form looks pretty solid. On the downside, he has been well held off this mark since. Dual course winner Madam Maxi is beginning to look well treated, but may find this level a bit too competitive for her, while Sattam, who doesn't look to be progressing as he might, should have the beating of Mister Robbie on their run at Salisbury back in May, as he is a massive 23lbs better off, for 7 1/2 lengths. Another to enter calculations is Royal Storm, who has the beating of Master Robbie on the book, as he is 9lbs better off with the latter for a 1/2 length beating, dished out at Warwick. Icanshift ran well from a poor draw at Newmarket last time and he continues to tumble in the weights. If back to the form he showed as a two-year-old, on fast ground, he is more than capable of being involved in the finish. However, Lafi is the selection to regain the winning thread.
