Verdict
A tough race to call where a case can be made for most of the field. Willoughby's Boy has a chance from the foot of the handicap but he was taken off his feet at an early stage last time and in the absence of an obvious excuse, that has to go down as a slightly disappointing effort. My Lucy Locket is also entitled to respect and has to be considered with conditions that should suit. Inspector General and Deceitful also warrant a second look in the betting and there may be more to come from Mine, who has shaped up nicely this season. But Contrary Mary has done little wrong of late and receives a tentative nod if the ground does not deteriorate any further. She has risen steadily in the handicap after some solid efforts this term and another bold show from her is expected.
