    Verdict

Artistic Rifles bids for a hat-trick having won over a mile on fast ground at Doncaster the last twice. This shorter trip won’t be too much of an incovenience if handling the soft going but WISE COUNSEL is preferred. The latter can be forgiven fading in the closing stages in heavy ground at Haydock on his first start since September and Clive Cox’ colt gets another chance on only his second start handicapping. Make A Wish makes her handicap debut having won a novices' event at Redcar and races on slow going for the first time, as does the returning Pesto, who landed a novice race at Leicester when last in action. Karnavaal failed to show much improvement at York last time though could still figure if taking to the surface and is preferred to the likes of Nefarious and Mardle.
