UNION ROSE looks to have strong claims of landing a hat-trick, despite carrying 4lb extra for last week’s course and distance success. Ron Harris’ charge won with a bit to spare on that occasion and a line through the runner-up gives him the beating of Gnaad. The latter finished runner-up here on his penultimate start and finished in front of Joegogo when placed at Salisbury before that. A 3lb rise proved beyond Major Blue last time having won at Pontefract earlier but Leo Minor finished closer at Bath last time and Pink Iceburg is fitted with blinkers having slipped down the weights.
