Verdict

This is a lot better than the average Class 5 handicap. Lyrica’s Lion is Camilla Poulton’s first-ever runner on the Flat but has a good strike-rate and is a past winner here, though usually needs an outing to blow away the cobwebs. MATEWAN won at Newmarket and Beverley last summer and Ryan Moore rides on his reappearance. Ian Williams’ charge has been lightly raced so is open to further improvement and gets the vote. Uther Pendragon and Bayston Hill are recent winners while Sudona attracted market support at Lingfield at the start of the month and wasn’t beaten far, though was just ahead of My Boy Sepoy and her best form has come on fast ground.
