    Verdict

Magic Circle won this last year having won the Chester Cup earlier. Making Miracles attempts to repeat that feat having finished well ahead of better-fancied stablemate Austrian School in the mud on the Roodee but the yard’s number one hope is almost certainly Dee Ex Bee, a high-class three-year-old who made a winning return to action in the Sagaro Stakes at Ascot despite racing keenly. Sir Michael Stoute has few peers when it comes to improving older horses and it’s interesting that he steps MEKONG up to 2m on his reappearance. He finished ahead of Austrian School over 1m6f at Ascot in October and it will be a surprise if there is not plenty more to come in staying races this term.
