Verdict

LIL ROCKERFELLER was beaten almost 18 lengths behind Alzammaar at Newbury last month but that was over 2m3f. Back over this trip at Ascot, Neil King's charge stayed on strongly to beat Sternrubin, Unanimite, Vosne Romanee and Baron Alco and is fancied to defy an 8lb higher mark with Sean Bowen's claim reducing the extra by 3lb. Alzammaar can't be ignored but he was behind the selection over 2m at Doncaster in February. Old Guard is well treated against the selection on their run together here in January but all of his form is on soft ground. Mercoeur is still a maiden and a step up in trip can't be far away.
