Verdict
Although four of the ten runners are out of the handicap, this still ranks as a tricky affair for the punters. Henry Candy's Zarzu sets a fair standard at the top of the handicap and is taken the land first prize. The gelding actually beat the course record at Folkestone in his maiden victory and was far from disgraced when taking on older horses at Haydock Park last time out. Byrano de Bergerac well beaten on that occasion. Jayanjay drops back to the minimum trip but trainer, Nigel Hamilton is yet to have a winner this term. White Ledger will be aiming to bounce back from a moderate run at Kempton while Ridicule, who did his fair share of winning earlier in the season, has Pat Eddery to give strong handling from the saddle. Cargo should like the ground but invariably finds one or two too good.
