Verdict
The first of two Group races on the bank Holiday card has, as ever, drawn together a smashing field. Hugh Morrison's reinstated Sagaro Stakes winner, Alcazar, looks set to run another big race. The highest-rated in the contest is Paul Cole's Mr Dinos although he is penalized for his Group 1 win in France last October on heavy going. David Elsworth's grand servant, Persian Punch, is a standing dish in this race and has won it twice already. He will be all the better for his recent Newbury run - Bangalore was behind him when disappointing that day - and he can make a bold show to land his third win in this contest. Luca Cumani's stable remains in good form and his Boreas, winner of last season's Doncaster Cup and Lonsdale Stakes, is another among a number to consider for a smashing renewal of this famous race.
