Verdict
Khateeb is taken to handle a major step up in class and take this competitive contest ahead of more experienced rivals Iguazu Falls and Redolent. Khateeb ran a blinder on his Newmarket bow, trying to make much of the running before being touched off close home. He confirmed that promise when scoring in hugely impressive fashion in a Kempton maiden last time. That was only a modest affair, but such was the impression he created that he is taken to improve past more experienced rivals and maintain his yard's current form. A Kempton maiden winner as a juvenile, Iguazu Falls was placed in the Horris Hill at Newbury, and was made favourite for his seasonal debut where he finished third to Redolent. His rival had the benefit of two recent runs, and with that run under his belt, Iguazu Falls will prove a different proposition this time. That Doncaster win for Redolent came after two Listed race defeats, and he appeared to have the run of the race, allowed to dictate a steady pace. He can have a good fight once more with Iguazu Falls, but may find the progressive Khateeb too quick.
