    In depth

It was soft going at Chepstow when COLOMBE found only one too good on her debut. Henry Candy’s filly may prove the one to side with ahead of another recent runner-up in Prospect, who showed ability on fast ground at Pontefract. Sir Benedict is preferred to Hot Diva and Hazmat on a debut fourth at Thirsk while the newcomer Mutasallem cost €240,000 as a half-brother to a 6f winner and should be noted.

Mutasallem (IRE) Showcasing colt out of Bright Glow.

Prospect 10-1 (9-2) Off the pace in 5th, pushed along halfway, headway over 1f out, switched right and stayed on inside final furlong, went 2nd last 50 yards, no chance with winner, 2nd of 8, 2 1/4l behind Ballintoy Harbour (8-11) at Pontefract 5f stks (5) gf in Aug.

Sir Benedict (IRE) 28-1 (9-5) Held up on near side, some headway 3f out, ridden and outpaced over 1f out, ran on final furlong, 4th of 10, 4 3/4l behind Nomadic Empire (9-5) at Thirsk 5f stks (5) gf in Aug.

Colombe (IRE) 12-1 (8-11) Mid-division, headway into second over 1f out, kept on well inside final furlong, 2nd of 8, 3l behind Pornstar Martini (8-11) at Chepstow 5f stks (5) sft in Aug.

Hazmat (IRE) 100-1 (9-0) Pulled hard and prominent, ridden and weakened over 1f out, 8th of 9, 17 1/2l behind Alcohol Free (9-0) at Newbury 6f fll stks (5) gs in Aug.

Hot Diva 80-1 (9-0) Chased leaders on outside, pushed along halfway, edged left and weakened soon after, 9th of 12, 15 1/4l behind Bahrain Pride (9-5) at Windsor 6f mdn stks (5) sft in Aug.
