Verdict
A tricky little contest to get to grips with despite the lack of numbers and it may pay to give Billie John a chance to quickly vanquish the memory of his uncharacteristic fall at Perth last month. With Broadgate Flyer and Pharbeitfrome both expected to be close up at the finish. However, Billie John, who landed a Novices' Chase at Kelso earlier in the season, has already proved that he is capable on his day and has been found a good opportunity to get back to wining ways. He had just assumed command when falling at the last at Perth eight days ago and would surely have won had he stayed on his feet. Assuming there is no appreciable deterioration in the ground, Billie John is taken to prevail. However, a substantial downpour would reluctantly switch the attention to Pharbeitfrome, who is adaptable with regard to a going preference but has looked short of toe on occasions.
