Verdict

Shadows Lengthen beat previous winner A Bridge Too Far at Wetherby last month but Mick Easterby's charge may be worth opposing here under a penalty and on a faster surface. Preference is for BRIDLINGTONBYGONES, who was only three lengths behind subsequent winner Skint when fourth at Musselburgh last time and has further scope for improvement over timber. Scriptwriter usually takes on better opposition than this but is now a nine-year-old and still awaiting a first win after 10 attempts while Alpha One probably need to step up again on his second at Newcastle to land this.
