In depth

Verdict

SPIRIT OF KAYF (NAP), a useful sort in bumpers last season, was far too resolute for Flat winner Master Of Finance on their respective jumping bows at Hexham. His penalty is cancelled out by Thomas Dowson's claim so a follow-up looks on the cards unless Ballycrystal, another bumper winner who has also won between the flags, proves above average. April's Bangor winner Newsworthy had his limitations exposed at Worcester last month while Edmund is probably having a pipe-opener before going back over fences.
