In depth

Verdict

RUTTAN LAKE has clearly improved for a spell hunting and made mincemeat of his four rivals at Perth last week. The ground here will be a lot different but such was the ease of his victory that he can't be opposed, despite the penalty. Gougane has had a break since beating Golden Dream at Cartmel at the start of the June but still looks the one for forecast-backers as Ballybanks looks very one-paced and the others haven't shown enough lately to warrant serious consideration.
