        Verdict

        A weak Apprentice Handicap gets us underway here and we have marginal preference for MADDY with Starcross Maid and Crazy Bold offered as alternatives. George Baker's filly has been progressing since the turn of the year and ran her best race this year when she returned to the turf last time out. She looks capable of more and in such modest company this could be her best chance of capturing a much needed victory. It is worth bearing in mind though, that her last victory on an artificial surface came almost two years ago. Starcross Maid ran with credit here last time out. She came in third and ran her best race since joining her current yard and looks to be returning to form. Her last win came over course and distance but again that was almost two years ago. Few of the rest have claims here but Crazy Bold stands a chance of making the frame here. His early career form makes impressive reading but his recent form has been questionable. Pretty Officer makes a return to action and will appreciate the run and Sir Haydn will need to improve on his most recent form if he is to be a cause for concern to the selection, Maddy.
