        Verdict

        This is a competitive race to open the card and the leading lights look to be Blue Hills, Red Sun and Bobby Kennard and the vote is given to Blue Hills. The selection has been knocking on the door of late and he put in a fair effort when finishing third behind Cotton Eyed Joe here on Sunday. He will be suited by the step-up in trip and with a useful amateur on board he should take plenty of beating. Red Sun is a course and distance winner and he did win a similar contest at Wolverhampton last month. He has to be on the shortlist but he was disappointing when last seen out and we will take him on today. Bobby Kennard does not win very often but he put up a fair effort behind Red Sun last time and he is better off at the weights today. Bid For Fame is returning from a short break and may prove best of the remainder, but for the winner we are happy to return to Blue Hills.
