Verdict
A tricky handicap and Nok Twice is selected in preference to Ommadawn and Calcutta Cup. The selection has appeared as if he has needed a trip in order to show his best and today will be the acid test as far as future plans are concerned. Having already had four runs this season, fitness really shouldn't be an issue. Ommadawn is sure to be popular as a raider from the James Fanshawe stable. A winner by a short head at Kempton, the handicapper doesn't have much ammunition to go to work with. Calcutta Cup has dropped massively in the weights since leaving Mark Johnston. He was entitled to need a first run back and will prosper if this turns into a test of stamina. Mujma has struggled to justify his expensive price tag thus far. Blue Hills is yet to win on turf but ran with credit at Brighton last weekend. Aleron is better known as a hurdler these days and soft ground would not inconvenience. Colonel Flay stays further than this but does so in his own time. Nok Twice is not without questions to answer but he has plenty of positives in what is a tough race for punters.
