Verdict
In a race where many are in with chances, the tentative vote goes to St Savarin at the expense of Velvet Heights, Mighty Moon and Heathyards Pride. The selection has been running consistently all season apart from a blip at Windsor, and as this race isn't as competitive he should go very close. He quickened up well when winning over a slightly shorter trip here recently, and assuming the race isn't run at a dawdle he should be there at the end. Following him home that day was Heathyards Pride who is a tremendously consistent gelding. However he could just find one too good again and could be booked for place money. Mighty Moon bolted up on soft ground at Catterick, however he was firmly put in his place next up at Lingfield and so he cannot be backed with any confidence. Velvet Heights cruised to victory last time out at the course, and if in the same mood could be one to follow through the winter. The drop back in trip is not ideal, however he travels very strongly throughout his races and so should be able to cope adequately. However, because of that drop he is passed over in favour of St Savarin who can give Richard Fahey another winner for the season.
