In depth

Verdict

The shortlist contains Tag Team, Percy Douglas and Count Cougar, with the vote going to Tag Team. Half of the field are course and distance winners. Of these, Tag Team, Count Cougar and Cashel Mead look to now be on reasonable marks. Also a c/d winner, Percy Douglas comes here in great heart following two wins in three races, but this contest will demand another batch of improvement. Take it back two years and Blakeshall Quest could be given a chance, although more-recent efforts are not so good, but Detonate is one that could be given a chance if getting back to near his best, and cheekpieces are on for the first time today. Of the others, Shirley Oaks is not far away from a winning rating but, for the selection, we will stick with course and distance winning form and side with Tag Team.
