Verdict

A real puzzler for the nightcap in which Beau Sauvage is given a tentative nod ahead of Quiet Reading and Tap. Mick Easterby's front-runner goes well fresh and with the yard in good form at the moment, he is fancied to give us a good run for our money at decent odds. He finished behind Quiet Reading here in an Amateur's race in November but enjoys a sizeable pull at the weights today and should be able to reverse placings. Tap is respected from the Dandy Nicholls team. He still managed to finish second at Ayr on his previous start despite bolting before the race under an inexperienced rider. On old form, he would be thrown in here. First Maite is reliable in claimers these days and is hard to fancy on a return to handicaps. Crusoe is consistent but the draw could have been kinder. Ipledgealliegance and Haunt The Zoo have been very disappointing of late.
