Verdict
Recent Wolverhampton winners Polish Emperor and Bond Playboy may struggle to reproduce their winning form on this surface and a contest won over course and distance last month by Trinculo, who had Quito, Dancing Mystery and Landing Strip in second, third and fourth place respectively, may hold the key to the outcome here with preference for Trinculo who remains less exposed than his rivals. The selection had been campaigned in Dubai last winter and took time to show his true form but now that he has regained the winning thread he looks worth following, especially as the Nick Littmoden stable is in such good form. Ayr Gold Cup winner Quito ran a cracker there over a trip short of his best and has to be respected but looks exposed, while Dancing Mystery seems plenty high enough in the weights at present. There is little to chose between Quiet Times and Bond Playboy on running at Wolverhampton last time but Wolverhampton form and Southwell form does not always work out so we are happy to side with Trinculo for the in-form Littmoden stable.
