In depth

Verdict

David Evans has had numerous winners since Boxing Day and has a pair of entries here. Gracious Tom makes a quick reappearance and though last of five at Wolverhampton on Saturday it was a much better race than this. He won over 6f here last month but his stable companion Nuzha made a big impression when landing a maiden auction event over the trip here last time when clearly relishing the surface and has the scope to do better. Major Jumbo won at Thirsk in the summer where he had today's rival WICK POWELL (NAP) a neck behind. He's 3lb better off here as the runner-up has done superbly in the meantime having finished second in a lucrative sales event at the Curragh then won the Listed Two-Year-Old Trophy at Redcar. David Barron's charge also has a victory on this track to his credit and this looks well within his capabilities. Juan Horsepower won a Wolverhampton maiden last month but was then beaten when well supported for a Newcastle nursery.
