Verdict

Fort Jefferson won a heavy ground handicap at Leicester in a canter then scrambled home at Newbury from 9lb higher. He makes his debut on the surface and hasn't been seen since June but is probably capable of better. MITHQAAL, who won a 1m1f Class 2 handicap at Newmarket in the summer, dropped back to 7f for his debut on this surface last month and had few problems adding to his tally. A 6lb rise makes things more difficult but the longer trip is in his favour and he can score again. Vivat Rex came here for a claimer last week and gained his second victory on the track. He has a 6lb penalty to contend with but still looks on a very fair mark. Captain Revelation has won three times around here and though successful over 7f last month is better over today's trip, though he is looking a few pounds high.
