Verdict
A very modest handicap opens the card with Barras only a tentative choice over Bella Boy Zee, Vampire Queen and Head Of State. The selection showed some useful form at this sort of level on the turf last season and proved to be adaptable with regard to his best trip. The son of Raphane possesses a fair turn of foot on his day and is much better than his recent form figures would suggest. The application of blinkers for the first time will help to keep him focused here and, with Mickey Fenton doing the steering, the three-year-old may be to hard to peg back if he is allowed an easy lead. Bella Boy Zee is another who comes into the argument on the best of her form, but this much-travelled filly is not one to rely upon for a big-stakes play and other make slightly more appeal. Vampire Queen relished the drop to this trip at Wolverhampton last time and she may be the one to give Barras the most to do now that her confidence has been boosted.
