In depth
Verdict
A very open contest to start proceedings, with Ellens Academy and Ronnie From Donny two that will be in the firing line but we will take a chance on Port St Charles. This son of Night Shift took this event 12 months ago and showed his well being with a game victory over today¿s rival Cashel Mead at Wolverhampton last time, taking into account the jockey¿s seven pound claim the selection should easily confirm that form at the revised weights. Ellens Academy has just turned nine years of age but showed he still has plenty of ability when landing a competitive handicap at York back in October, he also has winning form here and will be a big danger. Ronnie From Donny has been running well at Wolverhampton recently and didn't do too badly here in mid December once again he is weighted to take a hand in the finish. Of the rest Soba Jones, an impressive winner at Wolverhampton last week, warrants plenty of respect but Port St Charles is just given the verdict.
