Verdict

Montaff was a long way behind HAINES at Kempton in December and Andrew Balding's charge returned from a short break to score again at Chelmsford last month. The latter is an improving stayer who should take all the beating if handling the switch to Fibresand. Serenity Now is creeping up the weights but has been in good form around here recently. He's been placed in bumpers and over hurdles so the step up in trip shouldn't be a problem and he makes more appeal than Cathedral but Layline was second off this mark over course and distance two runs ago and is entitled to respect. Shirls Son Sam is very moderate and racing from 6lb out of the handicap.
