Verdict

Colne Valley Amy is running into form and is taken to get the better of Kenny The Truth in the opening race on the card. Gary Moore's seven-year-old, like the rest of them here, has been sadly out of form, but just of late has shown enough to warrant respect in a weak race like this. A winner off a mark of 67 at her best at Sandown four years ago, she has been on a steady decline since, failing to get her head in front since, despite dropping some 20lb down the weights. However, after a couple of outings over hurdles, she has shown some of her old spark back on the Flat at Lingfield, and was only caught in the closing stages over a mile and a quarter 12 days ago. The horse that beat her, Theatre Lady, was only rated 30, so we should not go overboard about the form, but the drop back in trip will definitely help, and Colne Valley Amy faces no stiffer task. Her main rival appears to be Kenny The Truth who is still a maiden, but who only just failed to get up in a similar race to this over the course and distance last time. The rest have nothing to recommend them at all, and in what is a two-horse race on paper, Colne Valley Amy is the pick.
