In depth

Verdict

Counting House can win this at the expense of Maslak and Calculating. The selection caught the eye when second to Jack Rolfe at Newbury on his last flat run in September. Since then he won at Exeter over hurdles and did not run badly at Cheltenham behind Mendo last time out. His flat form looks better than his rivals here and if able to run up to his best he will take the beating. Maslak is still a maiden after fifteen attempts but has been running well in defeat. He has a string of seconds to his name this autumn but was running well below par at Wolverhampton last time out. Having said that this looks an easier task so any market moves should be noted. Calculating is another who has run well in defeat of late having run second to Noble Plum at Wolverhampton last time out. He could be still improving and in such a weak affair he has to be respected. But for the winner we return to Counting House.
