In depth
Verdict
Emperor's Well, Yalla and Queensberry should all go well here, but we are happy to take a chance on the Richard Fahey gelding Mister Mal. The selection goes well on this track and a reproduction of his effort when finishing a close second to Illustrious Duke on his last run here would make him difficult to beat. He also finished a close second to Mallard three runs ago and Mallard franked that form by winning at Lingfield on Wednesday. There are many dangers in the race and Emperor's Well is sure to be one of them but he may be a little high in the weights at present so is opposed for that reason here. Yalla will appreciate this drop in trip and is a course and distance winner so has to be respected, while Queensberry ran well behind Mi Odds last time at Wolverhampton and could be worth following now that he is returning to form. This is an open race but Mister Mal goes well for his 7lb claimer Dale Swift and gets the tentative vote.
