In depth

Verdict

Maakirr was having his 13th start when losing his maiden tag in a handicap over the course and distance two weeks ago then followed up under a penalty. He's obviously in good heart and should make the frame though MAPPIN TIME looks the one to beat. Tim Easterby's charge gained his first all-weather success on this track last month and should have followed up last week where he missed the break very badly before staying on. Compensation awaits here though Thorpe Bay should get closer to him as his saddle slipped when favourite when the selection scored last month. Kellys Eye had no chance with Hannahs Turn here a fortnight ago but that was his first start since July. Fortinbrass landed a claimer here last month but this is tougher.
