In depth
Verdict
In a tricky opener, Mahmjra is selected ahead of Kentucky Bullet and Bolckow. Mahmjra has shown improved form of late and, given that he is weighted to get the better of Bolckow from a recent meeting, he ought to be capable of going well today on a surface he has proven that he handles. Bolckow, a winner here from a six-pounds lower mark two runs ago, and Kentucky Bullet, a Banded Stakes winner here in December, must also be given some thought. The lightly-raced History Prize is a potential improver, while Hits Only Life would have solid claims based on his best 2006 Turf form and he would have needed his latest outing. Magic Amigo is capable of going well from his current rating and Plenty Cried Wolf has bits of form that could see him go well, although he lacks a recent run. Finally, a first-time visor could help to work the trick for Cragganmore Creek, although his three runs since winning here have been tame ones. Once again, then, the selection is Mahmjra.
