In depth

Verdict

Mark Johnston looks to have found a good opportunity for Oberlin to break his maiden tag here and he can do so at the main expense of Hunting Haze, Coral Shores and newcomer Flamingo Land. Oberlin, a Gone West colt, has a mark of 72 after five runs so far which have yielded four lots of place prize money. This marked step up in trip should help and he looks well clear of the others on what he has achieved on the racecourse, so he should be able to get his career off the mark. Flamingo Land is an interesting debutante running in the colours of Barney Curley. Any money would make this 140,000 Euros purchase, related to to very good German middle distance stock, worth further consideration. Hunting Haze tries this surface for the first time and his career so far, preferring faster ground on turf, suggests that he might not be too well suited. We will pass him over, though he may be able to fight for the frame with Weet For Ever who is probably best of the very moderate rest. Keep an eye on the market regarding Flamingo Land, but Oberlin is preferred today.
