In depth
Verdict
In a fairly interesting bumper, the vote goes to Boomshakalak, with his main threats seeming to come in the shape of Thunder Child, Desperate Dex and Cloudy Lane. By Anshan, the selection cost 42,000 euros and is from the same family as the top-class chaser Travado. Like Boomshakalak, that horse was trained by Nicky Henderson and, given that he is having winners at present, we will make him the choice. Thunder Child is related to plenty of winners so has to be of some interest, while Desperate Dex, who cost 40,000 euros, is by Un Desperado and from a good jumping family, so is another that catches the eye. Cloudy Lane is also related to some good winners and he showed plenty of promise when second on his Uttoxeter debut. Scotts Court won on his debut at the same venue, although bumper winners have a poor record when trying to defy a penalty. Jim Old can get bumper winners so Colline de Fleurs is worth a look in the betting, along with Valhuec, who gave trouble at the start on his debut but also showed promise in finishing fourth. However, for the winner we return to Boomshakalak.
