In depth

Verdict

LONG WAVE did not run well here when well beaten in April but that defeat was sandwiched between two decisive successes over a staying trip and Charlie Longsdon would not return him to the Nottinghamshire venue unless confident of his ability to handle conditions. He jumps and stays well and is just afforded preference over the in-form Best Boy Barney, winner of three of his last four starts for Jeremy Scott. The latter seems sure to set out to make all and looks a major threat off what still appeals as a feasible mark. Wither Yenot is best watched making his chase debut against far more experienced fencers whilst Clondaw Hero is another for whom a watching brief is advised after performing well below par on both occasions this season.
