In depth
Verdict
This is quite competitive for a race of this grade. Pants is a long standing maiden, who was made favourite for a similar event here earlier this month, where he was doing his best work in the closing stages. Ridden a bit more positively here, may see him step up on that effort. Dusty Wugg has been tried in both blinkers and a visor, to no avail, and looks to have plenty on, even at this level, but Bar Of Silver is open to improvement, having had just the one outing to date. He is a half-brother to a 10-furlong winner and will be more at home over this extra furlong. Investment Force has been missing a while, but fitness shouldn't be a problem. He returns to action at a lowly level and looks sure to be involved in the shake up. Bill O'Gorman doesn't have many runners nowadays and his representative Mac's Talisman is worthy of respect. The three-year-old wasn't beaten far at Lingfield last time, after getting messed around early on, but he showed he was just as effective here when third in a big field of maidens at the turn of the year. However, the vote goes to Relative Hero, who was close up in a much better race than this last time on the Polytrack. Apprentice ridden that day, he is entitled to come for that effort as that was his first outing since May, and with the stronger handling of Jimmy Quinn also a bonus, he looks the one to beat.
