Verdict

With Grey Report still having a tendency to down tools at any stage this should lie between Flying Spirit and Tigers Lair, with preference for the last mentioned. The selection did not achieve as much as expected over hurdles but already looks to be a better chaser judged by wins at Ludlow and Bangor in his first two starts and Jonjo O'Neill's gelding is taken to complete a hat-trick today. The Philip Hobbs-trained Grey Report was easily the best of these over hurdles but has shown his quirks over fences, including when successful in a weaker race than this here in March and is probably best left alone. Flying Spirit showed improved form and gained a deserved success at Fontwell last time but with his main market rivals disappointing that day the form may not amount to a great deal. None of the other three runners make any appeal so the safest option looks to be Tigers Lair, who is taken to remain undefeated over fences.
