Verdict
GLORY AND HONOUR (NAP) fell on his chasing bow in 2021 but was a very impressive winner at Cartmel last month and should have more to offer. Impulsive One should improve on his third at Southwell given he won five times over hurdles but the mare Aliomaana, a four-times hurdles winner, is tackling fences for the first time. Guinness Affair has been making hay in small fields but a further 8lb rise for completing a hat-trick at Market Rasen looks harsh.
Formwatch
Impulsive One (USA) 3-1 (11-10) Tracked leader, not fluent 3rd, lost 2nd next, not fluent 9th, very long at 4 out, soon well held, 3rd of 4, 21l behind Al Zaraqaan (11-10) at Southwell 2m hcp (3) gd in Jul.
Guinness Affair (FR) 8-11fav (12-0) Made all, shaken up and went clear 3 out, pushed out, comfortably, won at Market Rasen 2m 1f hcp (4) gs in Aug beating Heronord (10-4) by 16l, 4 ran.
Glory And Honour (IRE) 9-4 (11-8) Held up in last, going easily entering home straight, soon switched right to challenge, kept on well to lead closing stages, won at Cartmel 2m 1f hcp (4) sft in Aug beating Post No Bills (11-5) by 2 1/4l, 4 ran.
Aliomaana 7-1 (10-12) Raced keenly and jumped left at times, led and set steady pace, headed approaching 2 out, remained well there on inside, weakened towards finish, 4th of 6, 3/4l behind Clearance (10-10) at Newton Abbot 2m 1f hcp (3) gd in Aug.
