In depth

Verdict

One time Triumph Hurdle hope Volano has suffered at the hands of the handicapper in recent appearances but now looks on a handy mark to win his first race since winning a novice hurdle at Sandown last year. He raced with promise last time out suggesting he is ready to win a race at this level and has every chance with a top amateur booked. Course and distance winner Ei Ei rarely runs a bad race and will be suited by the underfoot conditions. This return to hurdles should suit though there are better handicapped horses in the race. Agitando is a most consistent performer and runs here off a competitive handicap mark. He ran better than his finishing position suggested last time out at Kempton and back on a softer surface looks set to run well for his trainer Ben De Haan. Swan Knight comes into the reckoning now he looks to be on a reasonable handicap mark and his latest run suggested he was beginning to find a bit of form. With a useful conditional booked this former Martin Pipe-trained gelding could be set to win his second race over hurdles providing the ground does not come up too soft.
