Verdict
There is no hurdling form for backers to go one here but Pat Haslam can normally be relied upon to have a juvenile well schooled first time out and a chance is taken with his Dramatic Review, who is preferred to Vracca and John Forbes. The last mentioned lost his way on the flat until landing a Hamilton handicap in May and has the assistance of Tony McCoy. Martin Pipe is doubly represented with the ex-French Vracca, the mount of Timmy Murphy, preferred to Strathtay of his duo. Shingle Street looked to be going the right way on the flat for Mark Tompkins and is interesting on his debut for Venetia Williams. The ex-Polish Nelson makes his debut today for trainer Philip Hobbs and could be anything but is probably best watched on his British debut, while Alan King's runners in this grade always warrant respect so Compton Quay cannot be discounted. Pat Haslam has plenty of first time out juvenile hurdle winners though and it would come as no surprise if Dramatic Review, who was by no way the best of these on the level, proved to be too good for his rivals on his hurdling debut.
