In depth
Verdict
Tommy Spar is the pick in a tight little handicap, with Mylo, Navarone and Quizzling all respected. Peter Bowen is enjoying a good spell at present, and Tommy Spar should be more than capable of adding to the stable's tally based on his recent efforts. The six-year-old has been placed on each of his last two starts, most recently at Fontwell where he finished third to Barren Lands over two furlongs further than today's trip. He has won over two-and-a-half miles before and does not appear too badly treated at the weights. Mylo has been frustrating to follow over fences in the past and looked nothing out of the ordinary when beaten over hurdles at Newton Abbot. He will though appreciate the return to the bigger obstacles and will have plenty of supporters with Tony McCoy in the plate. Navarone made a lot of the running when second at Huntingdon and although he is now 12 years-old, cannot be left out of calculations. Nor can Quizzling whose rider did well just to keep the partnership intact at Fontwell after losing an iron. With Kety Star very likely to need the run, we return to Tommy Spar as the answer.
