In depth
Verdict
Joe Deane can overcome topweight to beat Finbar's Revenge, with Tidjani best of the rest in this class E contest. Joe Deane opened his account at Plumpton in January and has performed with credit since at Ascot and Haydock. He is really an out-and-out stayer and the drop to this grade will help in his bid to record win number two for Tom George. At least he has consistent form, unlike Finbar's Revenge, but to be fair, he was in the process of running a big race at Kempton when coming down at the third last. He had been absent for some time before being pulled up on his previous start and may have more to offer. Jonjo O'Neill's runners are always a danger in these type of events so Tidjani is worth a mention too. He was run out of it over hurdles at Chepstow last time and will be more at home over the bigger obstacles. The rest are hard to fancy, unless Blazing Batman improves markedly, and Joe Deane can gallop his rivals into the ground.
