In depth
Verdict
A competitive little handicap, with recent winners Sachsenwalzer, Castle River and Chakra all having chances, and Monksford also one for the short list, but we will side with Chakra. The performance of Minibule earlier on the card will give us a better idea of Chakra's chances, but given that he beat that filly by 23 lengths at Newton Abbot last time, the 10-year-old would appear to have every chance of taking this handicap. Due to go up 13lb very soon, we should get on while he is well in and take the hint. Sachsenwalzer will find it tougher after going up 9lb for a two-and-a-half length defeat of Miami Explorer at Cartmel last time out, and he will really need to improve to score at the weights. Castle River looks a better prospect after his three length defeat of Miss Skippy here last week and he looks a possible even with a 7lb penalty, given his liking for the ground and track. Of the remainder, Monksford has been in fine form this summer but looks to be in the grip of the handicapper now after a 3lb rise following defeat here last time. He should again run his race, but preference here is for Chakra.
