In depth

Verdict

A dire contest where the tentative vote goes to Minibule to beat Knight Of Silver and Royal Maid. The Martin Pipe-trained selection is lightly raced compared to her rivals and open to improvement. She still has plenty to learn about the game and though second on her two starts over hurdles, she has been beaten a long way both times. Jamie Moore will have to settle her better, but there is a small race in her and a repeat of either of those efforts would see her very closely involved here, so she gets a tentative nod. Knight Of Silver has a vast amount more experience, and it was an even worse race than this that he won by 16 lengths at Newton Abbot in May. Out of sorts since then, he has plenty to prove, but he does seem to throw in one good run every so often and he may do so here. Royal Maid will be some people's idea of the winner and the argument against him is not a strong one. However, he was weakening when producing a jumping error here last time, eventually finishing second to Looking Down, and so he also has one or two questions to answer. The vote here, to small stakes, goes to Minibule.
