In depth

Verdict

Just In Time, a six-times winner on the Flat and a strong stayer, wasn’t disgraced making his hurdling debut at Newbury, despite making errors. He’ll know more today while Young Lieutenant won a jumpers’ bumper at Kempton last month, though carries a penalty having won over hurdles at Sedgefield in the autumn. Floy Joy also won a jumpers’ bumper at Kempton last month and had TIME TO TINKER more than two lengths behind. But Paul Nicholls’ charge was given plenty to do that day and, as a second here in December has worked out well, he can take his revenge today. The Hoax and Grandads Cottage look best of the rest.
