In depth

Verdict

Darstardly Dick is nominated to land this contest for a stable that does particularly well when they target their charges at bumpers. A relatively cheap purchase, the market should prove the best guide to his chances as connections should be aware of what they have here from his homework with some smart stable companions. Psychological makes his third start in a bumper and while the form is average, it is enough to make him an obvious contender. Introduced on a firm surface at Newton Abbot, he finished just over 6l behind subsequent smart novice hurdler Hold Em, although the form should be treated with caution as they crawled early on. A worry is the fact that connections opted for an all-weather bumper for his second start which would indicate he has a preference for a quick surface. Bright Quest was prominent for a long way in a below average Chepstow bumper earlier this month. She could rate the main danger to the selection as she also stayed on quite well in a Wincanton contest in January. Victor Dartnells' Darstardly Dick need not be anything special to win this and we will side with him.
