In depth

Verdict

Il Castagno is the most consistent of these and gets the nomination ahead of Champain Sands and Pab Special. Brian Smart's horses are in good form and this progressive four-year-old has only been narrowly beaten on his two starts this season. Fast ground suits and this doesn't look the strongest of contests. Hula Ballew warrants respect as a course and distance winner especially after a fair third last time out. As does Efidium who has the ability if bouncing back from some average efforts. Champain Sands is turned out quickly after a good third at Wolverhampton just three days ago and will appreciate the return to a mile. Tough Love and Coup D'Etat are both well-handicapped on old form and neither can be ignored, however Il Castagno deserves to win soon and can score today.
