        Verdict

        With Captain Clipper making limited appeal on his debut this seems destined to go to one of those with racing experience. Gerald Butler's Compton Emerald showed few signs of encouragement on his debut at Goodwood and would need to show improvement to win this. Kevin Ryan's Leonardo de Vinci stayed on at the one pace on soft ground at Haydock on his debut but may not be appreciative of the faster conditions here, while Flighty Fellow looks more exposed than most. The TEAMtalk selection then is for Mark Johnston's North Landing. The son of Storm Bird made much of the running on his Newcastle debut last month before weakening as lack of peak fitness told. However, the stable's youngsters tend to improve with racing and, with more to come over this longer trip, he could be the answer to an intriguing event.
