    Verdict

A wide open contest rounds off the card and many would have chances on their best form but the principals look to be Calabaza, Crux and Wolf Hammer and the tentative vote is given to Calabaza. The selection was disappointing last time out in a much better race but prior to that she had been a fair third behind Katheer. That sets the standard in the context of this race and under conditions that suit and from what looks a good draw she is taken to score. Wolf Hammer rates the main danger on his best form and although she is another that has disappointed of late, if the forecast rain gets into the ground she should be noted in the market. Crux is another that could go well as he enters handicaps on a fair mark and showed more than his finishing position would suggest when sixth behind Kenmore last time. Monkey Madge is game and consistent and is another with place claims on her latest fifth behind Bird Over, but she has given the impression in the past she would be suited by a longer trip. Of the remainder, Dark Champion has the ability to go close but does not always ordain to use it. This is a trappy affair and stakes should be kept to a minimum, but for the winner we return to Calabaza.
